Saline intrusion from the Bay-Delta is occurring because of the depression in groundwater levels caused by the overdrafted condition of the Eastern Basin of the County. Saline intrusion is migrating eastward into the depression at an estimated rate of 50 to 300 acre-feet per year and is currently located just east of Interstate 5. More
