The MORE WATER Project is needed to assure sustainable water supplies for current and future residents. Almost
700,000 people currently reside in San Joaquin County, a figure that is expected to double by 2040. In addition, opportunities to provide this water are heavily constrained by current uses and availability. Much of the region’s water has been developed for use outside of the region.
The region is currently dependent on groundwater for about 60% of its supply.
